Who This Is For

If You Get a 1099,
This Is You.

Self-employment tax is more complex than W-2 filing, and mistakes cost real money. We work with independent professionals across every industry.

Freelancers & Consultants

Designers, writers, developers, coaches, marketers, anyone billing clients directly on 1099-NEC income. We cover home office, equipment, professional development, and everything else that's legitimately deductible.

Gig Workers & Delivery Drivers

Rideshare, delivery, TaskRabbit, or any platform-based income. Vehicle mileage tracking, phone and supplies deductions, and 1099-K reconciliation from payment processors, done right.

Content Creators & Influencers

YouTubers, streamers, podcasters, Substack writers, OnlyFans creators. Sponsorships, ad revenue, affiliate income, product sales, and the specific deductions that apply to creative work.

Real Estate Agents & Realtors

Commission-based income, vehicle expenses, staging and marketing costs, MLS fees, home office. Real estate professionals have unique deductions that most tax preparers miss.

Common Pitfalls

The Mistakes We See, And Fix.

Missing the Home Office

Many self-employed people skip the home office deduction fearing an audit. Done correctly, it's fully legitimate and worth real money.

No Quarterly Estimates

Skipping quarterly estimated tax payments triggers underpayment penalties, even if you pay in full at tax time. We set up a system that prevents surprises.

Mixing Personal & Business

One bank account for everything is an audit red flag and a deduction killer. We help you clean up records and separate them going forward.

Skipping S-Corp Election

Above a certain income, staying a sole proprietor costs thousands in self-employment tax. S-Corp election can save significantly, but only when done right.

Common Questions

What Self-Employed
Clients Ask.

What's the difference between a 1099-NEC and a 1099-K? +

1099-NEC comes from a business that paid you directly for services (a client). 1099-K comes from a payment processor (PayPal, Venmo, Stripe, Square, Etsy, Uber) that handled payments to you. Some income may be reported on both, we reconcile carefully to prevent double-counting.

Can I really deduct my home office? +

Yes, if you regularly and exclusively use part of your home for business. This is a completely legitimate deduction that many self-employed people wrongly skip out of fear. We calculate it correctly and keep documentation strong enough to withstand scrutiny.

Do I need to pay quarterly estimated taxes? +

If you'll owe $1,000 or more at tax time, generally yes. Missing quarterly payments triggers underpayment penalties. We calculate your quarterly amount based on your projected income and set up a simple system so you're never behind.

Should I form an LLC? +

Forming an LLC is a legal question (about liability protection) more than a tax question. A single-member LLC is taxed the same as a sole proprietor by default. Where LLCs become tax-relevant is if you elect S-Corp status, which can save significant self-employment tax at higher income levels. We can walk through both angles during consultation.

How should I track expenses during the year? +

The single most valuable habit: use a separate bank account and credit card for all business expenses. Combined with a mileage-tracking app and a folder for receipts, your year-end preparation gets 10x easier. We share simple recommendations during onboarding.

What if I also have W-2 income from a day job? +

Very common. We combine your W-2 wages and self-employment income on the same return, coordinate your withholding to reduce (or eliminate) the need for quarterly estimates, and identify any overpayment of Social Security tax from having multiple income sources.
